Slowly an unexpected bond develops between Mrs. Silberstein and Lennard. She listens gratefully when he reads to her from Tschick, thus introducing her to the world of young people. As time goes by, she too tells more and more about her life and her terrible experiences in the concentration camp. Lennard realizes: If he does not listen to her, no one else will.
