The Michaelmas festival stands at the beginning of the dark season. Together with the festivities of St. Martin on 11th November and St. Nicholas on 6th December, the impressive Michaelmas festival forms a trinity. St. Michael stands for courage, St. Martin for compassion and St. Nicholas for conscience.

These 3 consecutive holidays begin with Michali and courageous action, followed on St Martin by the image of brotherly compassion, up to St Nicholas, conscientious thinking. By experiencing the holidays we bring light into the darkness and prepare for Christmas.

The frightening dragon is defeated by St Michale. Figuratively, the children experience this good strength that each of us carries within us. They want to follow the good example and become good knights.
